Boppy Use #54 - Tummy Time!

Madelyn LOVES her sippy cup. Emma is still trying to figure out what it is!

MMM... green beans!

STTN

Yep. You read right. Slept. Through. The. Night. Didn't wake up once. Not even a noise from 9:45pm to 6:45am. And I think the only reason the started stirring at 6:45 is because the heard Christian up getting ready for work. I think adding solids may have helped us!

I tried the girls in their booster/high chairs this morning and they did really well. Emma seems to do better in it than the bumbo. I think it's because the back is a little higher. She still has some work to do to make her head a little steadier when sitting up.

We finished with our green beans and have backed up to try rice cereal for a few days. Then, I think we're going to try sweet potato. Yum.

January in Picures

My picture count has drastically dropped. I guess it's the return to work! I will take more pictures this month! What a bad mommy!

Not too bad.

The introduction of solids is going pretty well. Emma LOVES it, which is pretty ironic because she isn't that into eating from her bottle. Never was. Mady, is still trying to figure out what exactly she is supposed to do and why we are shoving green mushy stuff at her. I'm thinking she doesn't like green beans. Next on my list is to head back to cereals and try rice for a few days. We skipped that step and I'd like to have one of their meals per day be either oatmeal or rice cereal ... at least for the next month. After rice, we're onto either peas or avocado.

Madyeln's hemangioma on her shoulder is now starting to ulcerate and I think it's causing her some pain. It is right where the strap hits on her car seat :( So, Friday, she has a dermatology appt at 1pm and an eye appt at 2:4opm. I'm hoping that her eye is still okay, as it's growth seems to have plateaued. I just hate that my daughter has to have these medications and bandadges on her and any kind of pain whatsoever. It's heartbreaking!

Hopefully, I'll get some time to post January's pics tomorrow.

Solid Foods!

The girls occupational therapist approved them to move forward with adding in solid foods! They are doing pretty well with it, though yesterday they seemed a little fussy after adding some banana to their usual oatmeal cereal. Today we are going to try some homemade green bean puree. We are going to try to make their food. I say "TRY" because I realize it may be pushing to assume that we'll have time on top of having twins and working. But the way I figure, today it took me about 30 minutes to make about a weeks worth of food. I think we're going to buy a book to read more about how we can get the most nutrients to them. It also gives us an excuse to buy that food processor we've been wanting.

Why make our own? Well, if we do buy food, we'll be buying organic which costs significantly more. I just read something today about the chemicals used in the plastic seals on baby food jars and how bad they are. Their are just so many "extra" things added to our food and so many pesticides used in our crops. We want to do everything we can for our girls, and this is one thing we can control. We'll see how it goes! I do have to read more on the storage of homemade food. The food I made today is in ice trays that are stuffed into a freezer bag.

Oh, and the girls now weigh.... Emma: 11lbs, 7oz & Mady: 13 lbs 7 oz.!
